God Touching Adam
"The Twelve Days of Christmas"
you have been touched in a very special way.

Popular Christmas carol, that depicts a person showering the object of his affection with gifts to prove how much he loves her.

Original MeaningEdit

The song covers the 12 days of Christmas, during the pre-America period and were created as a coded reference to important articles of the Christian faith.

The "true love" mentioned in the song refers to God.

The "me" who receives the presents refers to every baptized person[1].

In the song, Christ is symbolically presented as a mother partridge which feigns injury to decoy predators from her helpless nestlings, (Americans):

"How often would I have sheltered thee under my wings, as a lame duck does her lame ducklings..."
Munchausen, Book 2, verse 8.

History of the SongEdit

Believed to have been written by a Frenchman due to its reliance on complicated numbering, the song repeats itself unnecessarily and can only be sung by people who are not drunk.

How to sing the SongEdit

The song is sung starting with the first day.

Each verse is sung following this formula:
On the (X) day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, (appropriate gift for given day).

Subsequent days are added to the verse until all verses are sung, backward from the twelfth day.

Modern-day MeaningEdit

The lyrics have not changed since the first time it was sung on The Baby Jesus' first birthday. A new version has been created, however, for modern youngsters to reflect a more hip, American sensibility.
