Vice President Dan Quayle pulls a rotsky

Rotsky (Internets Meme)

  1. to make a show of changing another person's proper spelling, grammar or punctuation to something that is incorrect, especially when no change was warranted

Origin: a message board on [1]

A rotsky is composed of two elements:

  1. the "correction" which is a copy/paste of the original post, with the "error" slashed out followed immediately by the "improvement"
  2. the show of magnanimity usually in the form: "Sorry, pet peeve". This element comes off as contrite or even sarcastic, since it is shamefully mistaken

  • when Dan Quayle "corrected" a student's "misspelling" of potato (see image above)
