A crowd gathered outside Parliament House watches as Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd formally apologizes to the Aboriginal people before the Australian Parliament, Canberra, Australia, 13 February, 2008.
The parliamentary apology comes 11 years after a report into past assimilation policies found between one in three and one in 10 aboriginal children had been taken from their families between the late 19th century through to the end of the 1960's. These children were known as the "Stolen Generation".
