The Iranian national soccer team pose before their World Cup qualifying match against South Korea at Seoul World Cup Stadium, Seoul, South Korea, 17 June, 2009. Six players wore green wristbands in support of protesters back home. The team tied 1-1, which was not enough for them to continue. Upon returning, four of the six (Ali Karimi, 31, Hosein Ka'abi, 24, Vahid Hashemian, 32 an captain Mehdi Mahdavikia, 32) were "retired" (banned for life) from the sport and their passports confiscated.
