Summary Edit

An unidentified Frenchman wearing a magistrate's robe and wig, a sheep's mask and a sign that reads "On Sale 2009%" marches in the one-day strike, Nantes, France, 29 January, 2009.

Hundreds of thousands of public and private sector workers throughout France answered a call from the eight main trade unions to participate in the one-day walk-out. The nation-wide strike was held to try to persuade President Nicolas Sarkozy and business leaders to do more to help ordinary people overcome the economic crisis.
