A daguerreotype showing a home in 1848 Manhattan will be put up for auction in New York City on 30 March, 2009 by Sotheby's.

It's believed to be one of the earliest photographic views of New York City and shows the hilltop house with a vast lawn on what is now Manhattan's Upper West Side.
