New York's 6th District, the Fightin' 6th! has been haven to many a hepster including Beat Poet Jack Kerouac, author of On the Road, and its less-successful sequel, On the Astoria Boulevard Exit of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.
The 6th is home to one of the factories of Interstate Bakeries, which produces HoHo's, Twinkies and Type 2 Diabetes.
Residents of the 6th have one of the nation's longest commutes, with an average subway travel time of 48 minutes. On the plus side, it's a great place to live if you like to rub up against sweaty strangers for long periods of time.
The 6th is one of the most diverse districts in the nation, and is represented by Gregory Meeks.
