Athletes Are Above The Law was the way Stephen discussed athletes as examples to our children. When an athlete commits a crime, they do not go to jail: they do community service. This is because professional athletes brighten people's days by shaking their hands. (And selling their autographs on eBay.) Kids inspired by athletes grow up to become athletes themselves, and then commit crimes which force them to do community service, keeping what would have been at-risk kids out of jail and prviding role models for the next generation.

Athletes Are Above The Law was The Wørd on the May 10, 2006 edition of "The Colbert Report".
