Woodpeckers are America's early warning system against bear attacks. They warn all non bear-loving liberals by pounding on the trees so hard that any true Republicans within 100 miles can subconciously begin the processes of defense against bears. This warning also begins the flow of massive amounts of truthiness from the gut to the balls and mouth for immediate use in case of emergency.
