According to Stephen Colbert, stud is an internets acronym used by young people and Congressman Mark Foley. It stands for Strong Teen Using Democracy, or S.T.U.D.

For example, Foley typed the following in an instant message window to a 16 year old Congressional Page:

"How my favorite young STUD doing?"

As Colbert points out, the word is seems to be missing from the typed message because, as Stephen says, "kids hate the verb to be."

Thank God Capitol Hill is filled with young studs.
