A South African is a person ostensibly from the Republic of South Africa, which is located in the titular continent of Africa.
Four famous South Africans are Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Johnny Clegg.
While Africa is probably a myth (not that you care), Dr. Stephen Colbert has acknowledged the existence of South African newspapers on his show The Colbert Report, and therefore South African newspapers do exist even if Africa itself is a little sketchy.
